Our ticket offer for pupils in the VRR -------------------------------------- Schools in the VRR area offer their pupils either the **DeutschlandTicket Schule** or the **SchokoTicket**. The school authorities decide which ticket is issued at your child's school. You can find out from the relevant school authority. For the time being, however, the DeutschlandTicket Schule is only available until the end of the 2027/2028 school year. The benefits of the tickets at a glance --------------------------------------- ### DeutschlandTicket Schule #### What it can do - Valid around the clock on public transport and regional regional rail transport throughout Germany, to school and in your free time - Bicycle transport in NRW and 1st class with the [NRWupgradeFahrrad](https://www.mobil.nrw/fahren/tickets-im-nrw-tarif/einzelticket/nrwupgradefahrrad.html) and [NRWupgrade1.Klasse](https://www.mobil.nrw/fahren/tickets-im-nrw-tarif/einzelticket/nrwupgrade1klasse.html) possible - Entitlement to the mobility guarantee in the event of delays #### What it costs - 43,00 € per month in subscription - If the journey to the nearest school is longer than 3.5 km, you may be entitled to reimbursement of travel costs. For primary school pupils, this applies from 2 km. For upper secondary school pupils, the limit is 5 km. Please contact the relevant school secretariat directly to check your entitlement and submit a corresponding application. If the DeutschlandTicket Schule is lost, you can obtain a new chip card for the school ticket from the transport company with which you have taken out the subscription for a fee of 10.00 euros. **Own contributions for entitled persons** Families whose children are entitled to have their travel costs covered by the school authority pay a personal contribution of 14 euros for the first child and 7 euros for the second child per month and ticket for a DeutschlandTicket Schule. Adult children in a family are not included in this calculation and pay the same fare as the first eligible child. From the 3rd child onwards and for children for whom ongoing assistance towards living expenses is paid, no co-payments are levied. #### Who it is for All pupils from primary school to secondary level 2, provided their place of residence or school location is in the VRR network area. The school authority decides whether a DeutschlandTicket Schule is issued. #### Scope of validity Germany-wide in regional public transport and regional rail transport #### Validity period - all day in the respective month - automatic extension #### Ticket cancellation The DeutschlandTicket Schule can be cancelled free of charge at any time on the 10th of the month. ### SchokoTicket #### What it can do - Valid around the clock on public transport and regional rail transport in the entire VRR area, to school and in your free time - Bicycle transport in the VRR possible with the [bicycle ticket](https://www.vrr.de/en/tickets-fares/ticket-overview/fahrradticket/) - Entitlement to the mobility guarantee in the event of delays #### What it costs - 47.25 € per month with a subscription - If the journey to the nearest school is longer than 3.5 km, you may be entitled to reimbursement of travel costs. For primary school pupils, this applies from 2 km. For upper secondary school pupils, the limit is 5 km. Please contact the relevant school secretariat directly to check your entitlement and submit a corresponding application. The SchokoTicket is even free of charge from the fourth active contract in the self-payer area. With the new features of the SchokoTicket, VRR is responding to the political demand of the VRR parliamentary groups to also offer the ticket at attractive conditions to self-paying families with several children. The offer for schoolchildren is becoming fairer overall. #### Who it is for All pupils under the age of 25 from primary school to secondary level 2, provided their place of residence or school location is in the VRR network area. #### Scope of validity - VRR-wide #### Validity period - all day in the respective month - automatic extension #### Ticket cancellation The SchokoTicket can be cancelled at any time. This allows pupils to see the benefits of the ticket for themselves. If the SchokoTicket does not suit your mobility, you can simply cancel it by the end of the month. The subscription period is extended by a further month if the transport company does not receive a cancellation by the last day of the current month.
