Important information on construction work in the 2024/2025 timetable year
In the 2024/2025 timetable year (15 December 2024 to 13 December 2025), extensive construction work is planned on various route sections in the VRR area. These measures will lead to considerable restrictions on train services in some cases. The exact cancelled sections and affected lines will be announced in good time on zuginfo.nrw. The construction site preview in detail (as of 02.12.2024):

Oberhausen - Emmerich (changing construction status)

During the above periods, all trains on the RE 5 (RRX), RE 19 and RE 49 lines between Oberhausen Hbf and Wesel/Bocholt/Emmerich/Arnhem Centraal will be cancelled. A replacement service with buses (SEV) has been organised accordingly.
During the periods not mentioned above, one side of the line between Friedrichsfeld (Niederrhein) and Wesel will be closed. Trains on the RE 5 (RRX) and RE 49 lines coming from Duisburg/Essen will terminate in Friedrichsfeld "Am Industriepark" from 15 December 2014. Trains on the RE 19 line will run as scheduled to Wesel/Bocholt/Emmerich/Arnhem Centraal during the periods not mentioned above, but with a cancelled stop in Friedrichsfeld.
Venlo - Mönchengladbach (changing construction conditions)

Due to the unavoidable closures on the Oberhausen - Emmerich line, numerous international freight and long-distance trains will also have to be diverted via the Mönchengladbach - Viersen - Venlo (NL) line.
As this line only has one track for train traffic for the most part and therefore does not have sufficient capacity to accommodate the diverted trains, there will also be partial cancellations and cancellations of stops for trains on the RE 8 and RE 13 lines on this line at times.
RE 13 line: During the periods mentioned above, the RE 13 line will be cancelled from Monday to Friday between Venlo and Mönchengladbach Hbf. At weekends, RE 13 trains will run between Mönchengladbach Hbf and Venlo between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., but with cancelled stops in Boisheim and Breyell.
A replacement bus service has been organised between Venlo and Mönchengladbach Hbf with all stops en route. In addition, an express bus will run between Venlo and Mönchengladbach Hbf without intermediate stops.
RE 8 line: Trains will be cancelled between Mönchengladbach Hbf and Rommerskirchen. The additional rush-hour trains on the RE 8 line between Kaldenkirchen and Cologne will be cancelled completely during these periods. A rail replacement service (SEV) has been organised.

The timetable changes are included in the VRR and DB online timetable information before the start of the construction work.
Tickets are not available on the buses. Tickets for buses and trains can be purchased online via the app or at the stations (not at the bus stops) from the ticket machines or in the customer centres.
