Due to construction work at the Kaiserberg junction, there will be extensive diversions, cancellations and replacement services on the sections between Mülheim (Ruhr) Hbf and Duisburg Hbf and between Duisburg and Düsseldorf Hbf from Friday 09/01/2026 (21:00) to Friday 06/02/2026 (21:00). The traffic effects in detail:
- Lines RE 1 (RRX), RE 6 (RRX), RE 11 (RRX)
Trains are cancelled between Mülheim (Ruhr) Hbf - Düsseldorf Hbf. The trains run from Mülheim (Ruhr) Hbf to Oberhausen Hbf and terminate there.
- RE 2
Trains are cancelled between Essen Hbf - Düsseldorf Hbf.
- RE 3
Trains are cancelled between Oberhausen Hbf - Düsseldorf Hbf.
- RE 5 (RRX)
Trains will be diverted in both directions between Oberhausen-Sterkrade and Cologne Hbf with cancelled stops at Oberhausen Hbf, Düsseldorf-Flughafen and Düsseldorf-Benrath.
- RE 19
Trains will be diverted from Oberhausen-Sterkrade to Duisburg Hbf without intermediate stops.
- RE 42, RB 33
Trains are cancelled between Essen Hbf - Duisburg Hbf. Between Mülheim (Ruhr) Hbf - Essen-Steele use the trains of the lines RE 49, S 1 and S 3.
- RE 44
Trains are cancelled between Oberhausen Hbf - Moers. Please use the RB 31 between Moers and Duisburg Hbf.
- RB 32, RB 35
Trains are cancelled between Oberhausen Hbf - Duisburg Hbf/ Duisburg-Hochfeld Süd.
- S 1
Trains are cancelled between Mülheim (Ruhr)-Styrum - Duisburg Hbf. The S 1 and S 11 trains will continue to stop at Düsseldorf Airport.
Overview of the replacement bus service (SEV)
As a replacement, buses will run between Duisburg Hbf and Essen Hbf or Oberhausen Hbf.
The SEV RE 19 will run on the following route every 10 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes in the evening:
(Oberhausen-Sterkrade) - Oberhausen Hbf - Duisburg Hbf
The SEV RE 1 runs on the following route every 10 minutes during the day and every 15 or 30 minutes in the evening:
Essen Hbf - Mülheim (Ruhr) Hbf - Duisburg Hbf
