Bridge damage affects train services between Wanne-Eickel and Gelsenkirchen

Due to damage to a bridge structure, there are currently restrictions on train services between Wanne-Eickel Hbf and Gelsenkirchen Hbf. This affects the S 2, RE 2, RE 3, RB 32, RB 43 and RB 46 lines.

Auxiliary bridge planned for the Wanne-Eickel - Gelsenkirchen line

During a routine structural inspection, DB InfraGO AG discovered considerable damage to a railway bridge between Wanne-Eickel main station and Gelsenkirchen main station. As renovation was no longer possible, the bridge has now been completely demolished.

DB InfraGO is planning to install a temporary bridge on the line between Wanne-Eickel Hbf and Gelsenkirchen Hbf in the week commencing 5 June 2025. The aim is to enable railway traffic in both directions over the regular tracks again.

A specific date for commissioning cannot yet be given. This is due to the tight schedule and the technical complexity of the work.
